A Look at Designer Purses

When it comes to having a purse, many women see them as much more than just a handbag or a place for them to store money, keys, and assorted other items. A purse can be a vital fashion accessory, helping women to coordinate their outfits while providing a valuable service at the same time. Fashion designers know this as well, which is why a number of major names in fashion create purses that perfectly accent the clothes that they design (and in some cases, design clothes that match purses that they are particularly fond of.) Choosing the right designer purse can make or break the look that a woman is trying to achieve, so it’s important that she knows exactly what role her purse will play in her overall appearance.

Origins of the Purse

Many people don’t realize it, but the purse has been around for a long time. The purse is a variation on the pouch or bag, which humanity has been making use of since before history began to be recorded, and there is even a painting which was painted around 480 BC that shows a young boy holding a purse-like bag. As time has moved on, the standard pouch began to be seen as a status symbol and was often decorated with beads, jewels, or assorted other materials so that they could be used as fashion accessories. Eventually men turned away from the use of pouches in favor of pockets, while women continued to accent the bags that they used and make them into the purses that we know today.

Our Fascination with Purses

Of course, the purse has continued to evolve even into modern times. There are now long-strapped purses, hand purses and clutches, purses which are designed to be worn over the shoulder and across the body… even accessories such as fanny packs are simply a variation of the purse, with the strap going around the body instead of over the shoulder. Purses are simply one of the most convenient ways for individuals to carry a number of things without having to fill up their pockets or make use of a backpack, and the way that they have managed to evolve into a major part of fashion and social status while still maintaining their usefulness borders on amazing. It is even becoming much more socially accepted for men to once again use a variation of the purse, simply because of the convenience that these small bags can bring.

Designer Label Purses

Since purses are a major part of the lives of many women, fashion designers are well aware that they need to be purse-sensitive when designing new outfits. In addition to being able to create completely new looks by creating designs that look fantastic when a purse and other accessories are present, many designers know just how much money there is to be made by offering designer label purses in addition to their other clothes lines. These purses come in a variety of sizes, colors, and patterns, and are often instantly recognizable as being designed by specific fashion designers. Some of these purses are even considered to be iconic, and are much better known than other products that their designer has created. Many of these purses continue to be produced even though their design is several years old, simply because they are so popular and the designers who created them have been unable to match the popularity of their simple styles with any of their newer designs.

Our Favorites

These purses are simply fabulous.  Jerome Olivet is a genius of the understated Statement!

If you like modern approaches and good prices you'll love them. They're made of PVC and lack embellishment.  Purses can be used by men and women alike.

Check out the wallet.  It has a zipper for your change and keys - very hard to find in wallets.

The backpack is also a thing of brilliance because the zipper is next to the back instead of being exposed for all  people who might want to help themselves to the contents of your backpack!
